The New Millennium Beauty and Barber Shops were first founded in 1998 with the opening of the Crenshaw location, which 10 years later still stands as a pillar of strength and hope within the community. In 2007, New Millennium opened a branch in the historical area known as Miracle Mile, on Wilshire Blvd. The New Millennium has been featured in articles in many local newspapers including a two-page spread in The Los Angeles Times. The Crenshaw shop boasts television credits on national shows from The Best Damn Sports Show, as well as reality programs such as Baldwin Hills on BET and the Style Network’s hit, Split Ends, who chose New Millennium’s episode for the 2008-9 season finale.
This barber and beauty salon has won numerous awards over the years. The New Millennium was honored at the Annual Love and Unity Ball in 2001. Then in 2002 and 2003 The New Millennium-Crenshaw was chosen by the city as The Best Barber Shop in LA, a huge compliment to the hardworking and personable people that make this location what it is. The Steve Harvey Morning Show awarded “The Best Barber Shop- Hoodie Award” those two years in a row, as well. Black ‘N’ LA presented New Millennium with two Choice Awards in 2006, one for Favorite Barber Shop and another for Favorite Beauty Salon. These accolades are appreciated proof of the place that The New Millennium Beauty and Barber Shops hold within Los Angeles.
